Adjusting Pro-Hydro Pedal Stiffness

Updated yesterday

In this guide it will show you how to adjust the brake stiffness on the FPZERO Pro-Hydro brake.

The system uses belleville washers to control stiffness and travel. These can be easily adjusted to suit how you want it to feel.

Before adjusting the stack, it's important to understand how the washers work. If you take a look at the washers individually you will notice that they are concave.

This means if two washers are placed in the same direction there is no gap between them for any flex, which in turn creates stiffness. Whereas if the washers are placed against each other in opposite directions this creates an air gap, meaning the washers can flex and thus creates a softer feel.

To start the stack, you want a solid stack of washers to create some pressure. All of these washers should be in the same direction as in the first picture.

The more of these that are in the same direction, will create less travel. Whereas if you create a small base stack this will give more pedal travel.

After creating a base stack, you have washers that will determine the softness/stiffness of the pedal.

We run these in two different styles;

1-1(meaning washers are ran together but in opposite directions against creating an air gap)

2-2(same principle as 1-1 but 2 washers ran flat then another 2 washers flat the opposite way, creating a air gap)

1-1 formation is softer then 2-2 because there are less washers pushing against each other meaning less friction.

Finding the right pedal for you can take some time to tweak but I advise starting with a solid stack ⅓ up the pedal then running 2-2 formation to the locking nut. From here you can decide to soften or stiffen the pedal.

After adjusting the brake it will need to be reconfigured in DIView, iRacing and AC. Please refer to the ‘Configuring Hydro Pedal’ guide for how to do this.

If you find you need additional washers while adjusting the pedal, there will be an extra stack in your FPZERO tool box.
